Dear Reseda friends and family,
What a great privilege it is for me to serve as the new principal of Reseda High School. With the finest faculty and staff at Reseda High School, we have some of the best opportunities to engage learners, and the community to continue to raise the bar as we provide a quality, college ready education for our students. We are beginning the 2016-17 school year with positive gains in literacy and mathematics and will make college and career readiness and 100% graduation a reality for all of our students.
I look forward to meeting you at one of the fall orientation events Monday, Wednesday or Thursday (I will be off campus on Tuesday) next week or on Friday, September 26th for our first official Principal's Coffee. We’ve had a banner sixtieth Diamond Anniversary Year here at Reseda High School where we are known as the “Hidden Gem of the Valley”. One of the highlights of our anniversary year was being selected to host the NorthWest Fest Arts and Wellness Fair with over two thousand parents, students and families in attendance. The fest highlighted area schools as well as our own programs with performances, exhibitions, entertainment as well as a welcome from our own LAUSD NorthWest Superintendent Vivian Ekchian and LAUSD Superintendent Michelle King. In addition to our existing Police Academy, Law, and Science Magnets, we will be opening our Arts, Media and Entertainment Magnet in August of 2016 as one of LAUSD’s Highly Rated Arts Programs. Boasting robust robotics, engineering, biotech and liberal studies programs, we have a pathway for success laid out for all of our students. We have been selected again as a School for Advanced Studies (SAS) demonstration site providing differentiated curriculum, and instruction for gifted/high ability learners in our home school. Our students continue to excel as they build the academic and socio emotional skills need for college and career. Looking forward to 2016-17, we will engage more of our families in ongoing activities to support their students and their growth as students, leaders, and global citizens.
Once again Reseda High school has been recognized for our significant contributions to the arts. Our amazing award winning dance team will have their annual recital on Friday, April 29th. Don't miss our Reseda Theater Production of "Working" on Thursday and Friday, May 19 and 20; Thursday and Friday, May 26 and 27. Our Spring Band concert will showcase our talented musicians on Wednesday, May 25th. Look for our new Arts, Media and Entertainment Magnet opening next fall.
